Experimental archaeology

A planned experimental research program is crucial for virtually all types of analyses carried out in the project. The experiments will be carried out on an ad hoc basis to answer current questions resulting from the results of the conducted analyses, which is a standard procedure. To ensure that all experimental work necessary for the proper implementation of the project is carried out, two international, two-week experimental archaeology research (further EAR1 and 2) will also be organised during its duration. They are crucial for the methodological research carried out in the project.

The work carried out during the EAR1, organised in Poland, will focus on building a reference base for raw material analysis of products made of plant fibres and the technological process of wood processing (and the macro/micro traces associated with it).

The EAR2 will be organised in Lithuania and will be devoted to experiments related to use-wear (function) research on wooden products.

The first two-week international EAR1 will take place in Central Poland in Wda Landscape Park (pl: Wdecki Park Krajobrazowy).
